The Pensieve

where the jokes empty

Push

Let me put it this way; it was just another ordinary movie, except that i could not predict what was going to happen next. Whether it was because I was getting lost in what they were planning or if it was because they did not make it easy for us to predict the movies next scene, I have no idea. All that i know is that it was not a movie that I will be able to remember after a while and definitely not one that I will try to get hold when it comes out in VCD/DVD. As for the actors and actresses, well, what can I say? They were ok, not bad, but not brilliant either! I must admit myself disappointed that there were insufficient special effects in the movie, other than then flying guns and blocking of bullets by the movers. So, I shall end this review here, before I start writing even worse comments about it.

Dragon Ball Evolution

Boring! When i watched the first 10-15 minutes of the show, I could predict what would happen next and what would happen at the end as well! One of the worst I’ve watched thus far I believe! The acting was not that great either. The male lead was probably the one who managed to save the movie a little with his acting and maybe the cast who played Buma as well (She’s kind of good looking). The movie had a very animated look to it, especially during the final part where goku fought piccolo for the dragon balls. To end this off with a positive note, I must admit that piccolo’s ship in the sky impressed me and so did piccolo himself. It was good costume designing!

Overall, I’d say it’s not a movie worth watching. Sorry!

The Pink Panther 2

In Pink Panther 2, we see Clouseau witty and funny police inspector that does the utmost ridiculous things, but ends up getting things right. Along with a few more additions to the cast this time around, the movie was put into slightly more action and humour, but lacked in terms or story. It was very straight forward and what upset me was that i could figure out the entire storyline in my head towards the first 15 minutes of the show. I could tell who the thief was and roughly guess what would happen in the end with the remaining members of the dream team.

The Dinner for the dream team after they apparently caught the tornado was similar to the 1st movie where they had the ball and Inspector Clouseau was not invited, but sneaked in to try and apprehend the culprit. Many similarities were noticed between the 1st and 2nd movie. This cost them points on the story line. As for the acting, I think I’ll give it a 3 because this time, I’m able to understand what Steve martin is saying in his French accent. Couldn’t really get what he was saying in the 1st one. But still, it was good.

As for the humour, this movie was better and had the audience laughing more times than the 1st one did. Unfortunately, there was no part in particular that was long lasting and had me laughing after the movie just thinking of it. Those kinds of jokes or humorous parts really help people remember a movie.

7 Pounds

Official Movie PosterA little complicating at the start, But i think the audience managed to understand the movie at the end.  A rather unique storyline. It was only towards the end of the movie that we finally managed to know the notion for Tim Thomas (Will smith) doing all the things that he did. The acting was alright. Will smith managed to show his emotions well, but the other actors who acted in it were not that successful. The only person other than will smith, who could really show the emotions that he had to act, was the guy who played Ezra, the blind man.  The others could do with a bit more training in that department. As for film structure, the background music was good with correct melody played at the right times. The scenery was good as well. The scene at the beach house was beautiful, with all the flowers blooming. (Wish I was able to grow that many plants without them dying due to the scorching sun. But banana peels help according to the movie. Got to try that out and see if it works.)

In case anyone of you who have already watched the movie but don’t quite get it, it goes as such. After accidently causing the death of 7 people in that car crash including his wife, Tim Thomas is trying to pay back for all the lives he took by giving 7 pounds of flesh that will give new life to seven deserving individuals to make up for the seven lives he destroyed. Tim intends to kill himself to atone for his sins. His brother Ben, who works for the IRS, is deeply concerned about his state of mind. Tim steals his brother’s IRS ID to access the IRS database and to find and meet people who he believes are worthy of his gifts which includes body organs and material possessions. Holly Apelgren, Ezra Turner, Connie Tepos and Emily Posa are among those whom he identifies to help. Furthermore, Tim assumes his brother’s identity of “Ben Thomas” to personally investigate these people and verify that they are indeed the right people he should help. He has a plan for when he identifies his 7 beneficiaries that requires his best friend Dan to see that his wishes are carried out after he is dead. He plans to kill himself by lying in a bath tub filled with ice and water and then toppling a pail with the most poisonous jelly fish that he has been keeping as a pet and let it kill him.

His organs are then transferred to the people whom he has selected worthy and they live their lives, knowing that Tim Thomas has given them what they lost.

Bolt

Like rolling down from the top of a mountain, this movie started to lose its interest as time went by. The starting was interesting, with all the action etc. But towards the end, the movie became a bit too predictable and the story line was a little dull. If they had worked a bit more on the end like how they did with the start, it would have captivated the attention of a wider age group. For kids, yes, this would have been a good movie. But for teens and adults, it would not really have made much of an impact and therefore, feeling pity for the possible poor ratings this movie would receive from me, I decided to have 2 ratings for this movie.  The first from a child’s perspective while the other from an adult/teen.

The animation was good. I’ll give them credit for that, but not as good as I hoped it would show, seeing as technology has improved a lot over the past few years. The film structure could do with a few improvements and a few more songs could also be added to get the audience moving a little to the beat instead of just watching a dog talking to a cat. The hamster was excellent. Humorous, charismatic, the hamster is one of the factors that pulled up ratings for the movie. The storyline, like mentioned at the start, could do with a few improvements and not be so predictable. But nevertheless, it was ok.

On a whole, this movie could do with a few more improvements. Other than that, it was alright.

Jokes for the Day

 Telephone Bill

The phone bill was exceptionally high and the man of the house called a family meeting…

Dad: People this is unacceptable. You have to limit the use of the phone. I do not use this phone; I use the one at the office…

Mum: Same here, I hardly use this home telephone as I use my work telephone

Son: Me too, I never use the home phone.. I always use my company mobile

Maid: So what is the problem? We all use our work telephones

Embarrassing moments

You were riding a bus, when you suddenly fart. Luckily the music is very
loud. Every time you farted, you timed it with the music. When you were going down the bus, everybody were throwing dagger looks at you, and you suddenly realized that you have your MP3 player on your ears!

To Hell it is!

WIFE: It’s a miracle! You came home early.
HUSBAND: I just obeyed what my boss told me to do. He said: ‘GO TO HELL’, that’s why I came home early.

An example of a cheap husband

John: It’s my wife’s birthday
Peter: What’s your gift to her?
John: I asked her what she wanted
Peter: What did she said?
John: Anything, as long as there is a DIAMOND.
Peter: What did you gave her?
John: playing cards

Legal? Logical?

After having failed his exam in ‘Logistics and Organization’, a student goes and confronts his lecturer about it.

Student: ‘Sir, do you really understand anything about the subject?’

Professor: ‘Surely I must. Otherwise I would not be a professor!’

Student: ‘Great, well then I would like to ask you a question. If you can give me the correct answer, I will accept my mark as is and go. However, if you do not know the answer, I want you give me an ‘A’ for the exam.’

Professor: ‘Okay, it’s a deal. So what is the question?’

Student: ‘What is legal, but not logical, logical, but not legal, and neither logical, nor legal?’

Even after some long and hard consideration, the professor cannot give the student an answer, and therefore changes his exam mark into an ‘A’, as agreed.

Afterwards, the professor calls on his best student and asks him the same question.

He immediately answers: ‘Sir, you are 63 years old and married to a 35 year old woman, which is legal, but not logical. Your wife has a 25 year old lover, which is logical, but not legal. The fact that you have given your wife’s lover an ‘A’, although he really should have failed, is neither legal, nor logical.’

High School Musical 3: Senior Year

I am now thinking where to start off this review. Too many things to say, both positive as well as negative, but there is no clear direction. Therefore, i shall jump straight into it. The negative points shall come first so that people will overcome them by the time it gets to the positive. However, to really jump in, i shall give my honest oponion. The movie was GOOD.

My first thoughts when i heard that HSM was hitting the big screens was “can it actually make a mark?”. Looking at HSM 1 and 2, i didnt think that the acting and scenes could actually be worth the money to watch in theatres; but it really suprised me. It was a more ‘mature’ movie than the previous 2 and it might have attracted more youths and people from different age groups. Breakdancing and good clothes are soem of the few things that might have attracted the attention of people from the 18-30 age group.

Jumping to the bad parts, i have to say i did not quite get the story line. Rather confusing. The start was alright. But after a while, there was no flow. Sudden jumps in the scenes. It sort of made me think that they had problems with the editing process and mixed up the movie at that part. Other than the story line, the only other problem i had with the movie was the part that Troy does a solo about venting his anger and confusion. I thought that they could have shorterned that part and elaborated more on the other parts. Also, even though i know many people will be wishing that they can kill me for saying this, Zac Efron cant do a solo. He needs people with him to perform. It looks really ackward for him to ‘destress’ all by his lonesome. Any one feel like strangling me?

Now for the postive comments. People, brace yourselves. Lots to come. Get a cup of coffee or tea, which ever you prefer and make sure you are nice and comforable, cause this is going to be long.

For the song ‘can i have this dance’ where troy and gab dance on the school roof top, i have to say, that scene was breathtaking. The ratings went up on my count just for that scene alone. Whats more, the scene was romantic and the song was also beautiful with the 2 of them doing the waltz. Very stylish and romantic.

A night to remember had very elaborate steps and had a very nice back ground. It was actually at this point that i actually visioned HSM going to broadway. THe way they used the props in a movie and did it so well, made me think that it might actually work. But i guess this idea will first have to reach the producer (and i have no idea how to contact him). The costumes were also very nice.

Ok. Before i go on, lets just get some general comments about the movie said here and now so that i wont have to repeat it over and over again. The costumes, backgrounds and music were all good and so were the actors and their acting. THey have really improved and their acting is more ‘natural’ compared to the previous 2 movies. More emotions were visable in this movie and you could see the ‘attitude’ in their faces that made them show their connection to the character they are potraying.

Now back to the other comments. The song “the boys are back’ was good and really mordernised the movie. Steps were very good and the other dancers were also good. a fitting backdrop for such a song. Make it more ‘boyish’

‘i want it all’ was excellent! To be very frank, i think ryan stole the spotlight for this song and not sharpay.

The new guys for this movie were good and brought comedy to this film. The play, Senior Year was very well done and i was even tempted to clap after it was over but realised that i was in a theatre and clapping would be very ackward. Was really drawn to it.

The remix to the song ‘we’re all in this together’ was nice and the graduation speech by troy was a good scene and if some of you who have watched the movie and are reading this review, you might have felt the impact of the speech. Hard to put the feeling into wods except that it felt real.

The last and final song was a good way to end the movie and the series. If this is really the last movie that HSM is ever going to create, then it really went off with a bang.

This movie shows us what we all wish high school would be like and i think this series has changed lots of peoples lives, be it the actors and cast or people watching it. Also, HSM brought musicals back in fashion and might have a great impact on the young generation and make musicals a trend again in the near future. My personal advice to future musicals. YOU HAVE VERY BIG FEET TO FILL. And those are HSM’s feet. Its a huge one in case you have not realised. Try beating the level of impact it has made in the last few years and all credit will go to you. This i can assure

Now, for the verdict.

The Dark Knight

Cast:  Christian Bale – Batman/Bruce Wayne

Heath Ledger – The Joker

 Aaron EckhartHarvey Dent / Two-Face,

 Gary OldmanJames Gordon

 Maggie Gyllenhaal - Rachel Dawes

 Michael CaineAlfred Pennyworth

 Morgan FreemanLucius Fox

The main actor has got to be changed to Heath ledger, and I’m not saying this because he passed away. I think if it were not for him, the movie will not have made the impact as it has. I read personal messages on MSN like “why so serious?” or “Here’s my card” everywhere and I’m thinking that it has got to be due to Heath Ledger’s brilliant acting. He really played a good replica of a mad man whose only intention is to see the world burn. Christian bale who comes back to take up the role of batman did a reasonably good job, but I still think the director should consider letting him have his normal voice instead of that horst voice which makes him sound more like a villain than a vigilante or hero. Even though the movie is about Batman, the movie really focused on the other stars mentioned above (cast) and not Christian Bale. Maybe the directors should look into that as well. The movie was over 2 hours and i think it was worth it. There were parts that kept me laughing(Joker dressed as a nurse) and there were parts that got me jumping (the dead, fake batman hitting the window) Nevertheless, There was a good amount of twists here and there and what really kept the audience in their seats was probably the amount of mistrust in Gotham city. There was no telling who James Gordon’s men were and who joker’s men were. However, I think I will keep saying this, but Heath ledger seriously did a good job. I still have some of his lines in my head and I don’t think I will forget them anytime soon.

Other comments: Acting given 3.5 mainly due to Heath Ledgers excellent performance. Story line could have been improved a bit to make it more interesting instead of long winded. As for film structure, the scenes were good. The buildings were beautiful. The X-factor mainly came from the Joker, especially the lines that have become famous like “Why so serious?” and “Here’s my card”.

Journey to the center of the earth

Staring Brendan Fraser as Trevor Anderson, Josh Huterson as Sean, Trevor’s nephew and the Beautiful Anita Briem as the local guide, Hannah Asgiersson, this movie brought graphic design to a new level, with added beauty and a really good image of “The centre of the earth”. Basically, this movie jumps straight into the action without much intro, which can be both a good thing and bad thing. But I think I preferred it that way. Short, simple and straight to the point. The rest of the movie shows the 3 of them trying to get out of the cave that they were trapped in which was due to a cave in. They find an old mine where they find a hole in the wall that contains Tons of rare stones including emeralds and Diamonds. They happen to be stepping on a very thin layer of rock and thus, fall deeper into the earth. They finally find the Centre of the earth and find Trevor’s dad, who went missing 10 years ago. He was a scientist just like Trevor and had spent a lot of time doing research about the centre of the earth and managed to find it as well. However, he never made it out alive. Hanna discovers his body and calls Trevor. Trevor rushes to see his brother. On the coast of the sea, Max is laid to rest with stones placed over his body. They then attempt to get out of the center as the temperature of the place is rising continuously and within 48 hours, they will be dead. They then continue their efforts to get out of the centre.

Other comments:  The movie was not as good as expected. The movie rating was brought up mainly due to the film structure and the Actors and their acting. The storyline was rather dry and I think they only touched the surface. They could have gone more in-depth in other things like how Max died and how he lived etc. Also, the last bit about the dinosaur was a waste of time. They could have done something better with that time. Credits for this film must really go to the graphic designers and Actors. The script writer should get some credit for adding humour in many places in the film.

Did you know?

Peel a banana from the bottom and you won’t have to
pick the little ‘stringy things’ off of it. That’s how the primates do it.

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store.
If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil.
It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!

Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating.
Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef.
It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.

To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of
spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.

For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt mints
in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. It becomes a wonderful minty frosting.

Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste
of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic.

Leftover snickers bars make a delicious dessert. Simply
chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place them
in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350
for 15 minutes!!!  Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream.

Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a non-stick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low
and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza.

To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in
a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food
moist and help it reheat faster.

Newspaper weeds away
Start putting in your plant’s, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers,
put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and for-
get about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not
get through wet newspapers.

Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water.
Dump out the hot water, but don’t dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such
as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.

Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of
your car. When the window s fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!

Reopening envelope
if you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside,
just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals
 easily.

Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It’s cheaper than shaving cream and
leaves your legs really smooth. It’s also a great way to use up the conditioner you
bought but didn’t like when you tried it in your hair.

Goodbye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass, fill it 1/2′ with Apple Cider Vinegar
and 2 drops of dish washing liquid; mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the
cup and gone forever! (Drown)

Get Rid of Ants
Put small piles of corn flour where you see ants. They eat it, take it ‘home,’ can’t
digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works
and you don’t have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

Note: Some facts were removed because they made no sense. Some were removed because I tested them out and they did not work. More might be removed after I have done more testing (if I have the time) If you have your own interesting facts, drop me a comment and I will add it on to the list.
